* 10th ANNUAL QUEER YOUTH LEADERSHIP AWARDS – May 19, 2007 *

The Santa Cruz County Task Force for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex, and Questioning Youth (LGBTIQ) invites the community to attend the 10th Annual Queer Youth Leadership Awards on Saturday, May 19th at Harbor High School, 300 La Fonda, Santa Cruz.

The program includes a buffet, a blend of youth entertainment as a variety show, combined with presentation of awards and dance to follow. The dinner will begin at 6:00pm followed by youth entertainment and award ceremony at 8:00 pm. A community dance will follow.

There are three categories of awards honoring today’s queer youth leaders and their allies:

  • THE QUEER YOUTH LEADERSHIP AWARD
  • THE ALLY TO QUEER YOUTH AWARD
  • THE ORGANIZATIONAL ALLY TO QUEER YOUTH AWARD

In April of 1998 Santa Cruz County enjoyed the first Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Youth Award Ceremony and Banquet. The event was produced by the grass roots involvement of the then, newly formed Task Force.

The mission of Queer Youth Leadership Awards is to improve the lives of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex, and Questioning youth by increasing the positive awareness of Queer Youth leadership, and increasing safe and welcoming environments in home, school, and community.
